Picardie has some of the best driving and motorcycling roads in France, all of which are easily accessible from Ribemont.
The City of St Quentin (15kms), is best known for the Basilique and with 60,000 inhabitants is a bustling City full of artisan and designer shops, street cafes and beautiful Gothic architecture. A large market is held every Wednesday and Saturday morning off the town square. During the summer nearly the whole of the city square is converted to a beach area with sand and swimming pools and in the winter, a huge ice rink is installed.
40kms away, the medieval walled town of Laon (the Capital of France prior to Paris) oozes history such as the 12th Century octagonal Knights Templar Chapelle des Templiers.
Reims is synonymous with champagne, although not only famous for champagne, the 2000 year old city witnessed the holy anointing the Kings of France.
Within an hour's drive you can reach Parc Asterix, a theme park on the edge of Paris and Parc Saint Paul which is a theme park near Beauvais or just a bit further away, Disneyland Paris.
Picardie is a region steeped in battlefields and there are many visitor centres and ancient battlefields to view.
