Our house is situated in a hamlet just outside the village of Mouais in the Loire Atlantique (44) Loire-Atlantique, also known as Western Loire, on the border of Morbihan, the Southern most département of Brittany, and also equally close to Ille et Vilaine, in the East of Brittany.
It is well located to access the Atlantic coast, just an hour away. A short drive will lead you to Derval, Grand Fougeray, & Chateaubriant whereas the vibrant cities of Nantes & Rennes are also easily accessible.
The surrounding area has a smattering of market towns full of character, which are popular with tourists. This is a popular investment area. This region enjoys a warmer climate than the North coast of Brittany & Normandy. It offers a dramatic, rugged coastline within an hour’s drive, long sandy beaches; both tourist hot spots and secluded bays, plus the inland delights of its many pretty villages. Sailing, golf,and equestrian sports are available in the local area.
Western Loire is located far enough away from the UK to really feel ‘abroad’ but is close enough to offer the security of knowing family & friends are not too far away at all. Possibly the best served area of France for travel links. This is one of the few areas accessible via ferry or airplane.
